The baronies of Stargate and Loch Soilleir invite you to attend their joint championship event and Stargate’s baronial investiture. In the presence of Their Excellencies Caelan and Rhiannon of the Loch, Master Robert Michael MacPharland and Baroness Simone Valery la Rousse will step up to succeed Baron Ihon Vinson MacFergus and Baroness Isabeau Quiquandon as Baron and Baroness of Stargate. In addition to the investiture, there will be tournaments to determine Chivalric, Rapier, Archery, and Equestrian champions for both baronies, and a Bardic challenge. A Laurel’s Circle is planned during the day, as well as the Herald's decision meeting for April. There will also be children's activities, several classes, and charter painting during the day, and both a torchlight tourney and a drum circle to enliven the evening. Site Information:
Hours: Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or they may also attend with a 21 year old or older adult with a signed and notarized Minor Event Waiver form from the parents. Site is beer/wine only allowed in period containers only. Merchants are welcome but must e-mail the event steward at least a week before the event. Feast: The feast is being provided by Loch Soilleir, stewarded by Baron William of Welewen. Feast Menu: Championships: Both Baronies will be choosing Archery, Chivalric, Equestrian and Rapier Champions. The Chivalric and Rapier championships will both be fought challenge style. For the Archery Championship, we have this update from Lord Padraic of Kilkenny and David of Gate’s Edge: "We have several ends designed to test your skills against a variety of targets, including wreaths, string shoot, animals and even a Combat Archery round to make sure our Champions can defend no matter what the field of battle may be. The Combat round will require that you have combat legal bow/crossbow, ammo, head and hand appropriate armor (be that rapier or heavy weapons forms). There will be limited loaner gear available so please make arrangements with us prior to showing up. Drum Circle: At the request of Her Excellency Simone and Her Excellency Mistress Rhiannon, there will be a drum circle Saturday night. We will begin after dark, after Feast, wherever we can find a good spot. Most likely under the big pavilion, wherever we can find the best light. Bring chairs, drums, rugs, and something to drink! And if you play some other musical instrument, don't be shy! Come join us! We welcome all musicians who are interested in Middle Eastern music. Dancers are, of course, very welcome to join us!
